It all started at the age of 5, when she had her first piano lesson. For the next 14 years, Denise went on to study classical music and won many local piano competitions in Central Alberta. After many years of training, she took a break from classical music and focused more on her other love – poetry. This allowed Denise to combine extensive musical practice with lyric writing, which set the foundation for her music career.

While studying Recording Arts at the Art Institute of Vancouver, a fellow student found out about her talent and asked her to record an original song. That gave Denise the push she needed to play her own creations in front of local audiences. She began to perform at open mics, and quickly found herself being sought out by both promoters and other musicians to open up for various acts around Vancouver.

Denise's emotive, lyrical style and haunting melodies resonate with the listener. She lists some of her influences as Ani DiFranco, Tori Amos, The Cure & Radiohead, while listeners have heard strains of Evanescence & Norah Jones. In 2007, her song "Addiction" was a semi-finalist in the UK Songwriting Contest. Just back from a 5 city Western Canada Showcase Tour, Denise is currently busy promoting and captivating audiences with her first full-length album "Back from Neverland", released on November 28th, 2011.
